Welcome to the online resource designed to help social purpose organizations locate one of the most sought-after types of funding: grants for capacity building.
Humanity Financial has invested in creating this searchable tool as part of our commitment to enhancing the financial capacity of Canadian charities, non-profits, First Nation governments, and Indigenous communities.
Access to this resource is free, and the information has been updated monthly. However, starting after July, we will be transitioning to bimonthly updates, with the next GrantScan report scheduled for release in September 2024.

Best practices in choosing the best grants for your organization:
- Spend time assessing whether the grant is a good fit before expending the resources in writing the application.
- Reach out to the funder before applying. Have a conversation, get feedback.
- Consider whether the grant will make your organization 'poorer' if you succeed in securing the grant.
Do NOT apply for these grants:
- Does not serve your mission; requires your organization to contort or 'spin' itself, in order to be a fit.
- Does not provide enough funds for overhead.
- Too much reporting required, relative to the amount of the grant.
- Requires an in-kind contribution that your organization doesn't have or can't secure.
