Humanity Financial is not a traditional accounting firm, nor are we typical accountants.

We invite you to join the nation’s leading CPA firm, exclusively serving the social purpose sector.

Our clients include non-profits, charities, First Nation governments, Indigenous communities, and social enterprises.

Our focus is to increase the financial capacity of client organizations, enabling them to achieve their own vision, mission, and purpose. We do this by serving as a completely outsourced finance department or as a supplement to an existing finance team. We custom design our teams to meet the needs of our clients.
Located across Canada, our clients are diverse in size, complexity, and impact. All share a common thread: an unwavering commitment to causes greater than themselves. With resolute determination, they enact changes that lead to heightened environmental sustainability; and social and economic equity and inclusivity within their communities.
As activist accountants, we support a pathway for our clients to move beyond reacting to financial challenges: by activating regenerative thinking and strategies. We approach our work with humility, providing steadfast support and in-depth technical expertise.
Our office is located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ / Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, commonly known by its colonial name, West Vancouver, British Columbia. While we maintain an office, our team works remotely.

What we stand for

In 2020, the BC Government designed a new business structure called the Benefit Company. Humanity Financial embraced this legal structure, as it enabled us to fully embed our social purpose into our constitution.
Our public benefit purposes are dedicated to:
Our purposes remain top of mind for all team members, and actively influence every decision that we make in running the business. Our purposes are more than a company mission statement. They are the reason that Humanity exists.
In fact, Humanity is often mistaken for a non-profit organization, as demonstrated by the project pathways that we choose to follow, and the relationships that we commit to.

As a company determined to use our business as a force for doing good, we were the first accounting firm in Canada to qualify for Certified B Corporation certification. We are also a Certified Caring Company; a Certified Carbon-Neutral firm, purchasing carbon offsets to support the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project; and working towards our Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations certification. Humanity is certified as a Great Place to Work.

What we offer

Welcome to a remote-first accounting firm, with no tax season, offering above-average pay and outrageous perks for team members. We sat down with team members in their first year of working with us and asked them to tell us what they love about working at Humanity Financial.

Here are some of their answers:

We are proud to share some other practices and commitments that make us stand out as an employer

Equitable recruitment practices

We are committed to an inclusive workforce that represents many cultures, backgrounds, and viewpoints. Our objective is to provide a space for people from all walks of life, creating a welcoming environment for everyone.
We strongly encourage applications from members of communities who are marginalized or experience structural discrimination: including those identifying as Indigenous; people of colour; members of non-dominant ethnic, religious, linguistic, and/or cultural groups; women; immigrants; people with disabilities; and LGBTQ2S+ people. We encourage applicants to self-identify in their application if they feel comfortable doing so.
We actively seek to modify our hiring process to ensure fairness and equity, including accessibility requirements wherever possible.

Indigenous Talent Plan

Our Indigenous Talent Plan forms part of our commitment towards the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92 and our own path of Reconciliation. We are committed to achieving equitable representation of Indigenous team members within our firm. In addition, we are committed to efforts that encourage Indigenous people to pursue a career in finance, so that First Nations and Indigenous organizations have access to talent that can help build financial capacity.
Humanity Financial strives to build a workplace that is reflective of the communities that we serve; and a great place to work for Indigenous finance professionals, though not at the expense of the financial capacity of Indigenous communities. We prioritize folks who are Indigenous or of Indigenous ancestry (by self- identification) when we review our applications.

Pay and benefits

We hold a holistic view of how we compensate our team members. This includes a competitive salary, and extended health and dental coverage from day one. Employees are invited to participate in our group RRSP matching program and have an opportunity to take advantage of paid volunteering and professional development time and a professional development allowance. Humanity team members enjoy generous paid holidays, including personal time off, and the option to switch statutory holidays for other days that are personally or culturally significant.
When joining Humanity, team members are set up with a powerful computer, multiple monitors and ergonomic peripherals, plus a reimbursement for expenses related to home office setup.

Work-life balance

Our team members enjoy meaningful, challenging work, and the down time to appreciate it. We work to support this ethos by careful monitoring so that no one person is overwhelmed.
Humanity Financial does not prepare corporate and personal taxes, nor do we perform audits. This translates to a work environment quite unlike what you’re used to finding in a conventional accounting office. While we do have busy periods, we generally all work a standard week, and adjust our schedules if some weeks are busier than others – this means no overtime!
Additionally, we offer flexibility in work hours: interested in starting your day earlier and ending earlier? – no problem!
More about you
You value work-life balance and flexible, remote work arrangements. While you’re comfortable working remotely, you are open to travel and able to work from a client’s office from time to time.
You would enjoy collaborating with a team of exceptional bookkeepers, Controllers, CFOs, and consultants.
You are service oriented, love working with people; and are comfortable being client-facing and building trusting, collaborative relationships.
You enjoy solving puzzles – rolling up your sleeves and putting the pieces together –not just the theory, but the practice. You know that digging into bookkeeping tasks is sometimes part of the job, and that keeps you sharp.
